The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is a non-profit professional boxing sanctioning institution founded in 1988 and headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is recognized by the International Boxing Hall of Fame as one of the four major championship sanctioning bodies alongside the WBA, WBC, and IBF. The WBO is currently led by president Gustavo Olivieri, who took office in October 2024. The organization maintains monthly world rankings, designates mandatory challengers, oversees unification bouts, and manages championship titles across multiple weight divisions for male and female boxers. Regional affiliates include the North American Boxing Organization, WBO Latino, WBO Asia Pacific, and the Indian Professional Boxing Association.
