About
Matchroom Boxing is the professional boxing promotional arm of Matchroom Sport, a British multinational sports promotion company founded in 1982 by Barry Hearn in Brentwood, Essex, England. Barry Hearn’s son Eddie Hearn has served as Chairman since April 2021 and is the public face of the boxing operation. Matchroom Boxing generates approximately $235 million annually in revenue as of 2023 and holds broadcasting partnerships with DAZN, Sky Sports, ITV, and the BBC. A five-year DAZN extension was agreed in February 2026. In May 2026, American private equity firm Bruin Capital acquired a 15% minority stake in Matchroom Sport — valuing the company at over £1 billion — while the Hearn family retained operational control. Matchroom promotes championship bouts globally and is one of the primary drivers of the sport’s DAZN-era expansion.
