About
Wild Card Boxing Club is one of the most decorated boxing training facilities in modern boxing, located on Vine Street in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. The gym was established in 1995 when actor Mickey Rourke donated his boxing equipment to trainer Freddie Roach as Rourke stepped away from the sport — Roach used that equipment to open Wild Card, which he has run alongside his brother Pepper ever since. Under Roach’s guidance, Wild Card became the home gym of Manny Pacquiao, the only eight-division world boxing champion in history, whose championship run spanning the 2000s and 2010s cemented the gym’s reputation. In total, Roach has trained over 40 world champions out of Wild Card, including Miguel Cotto (five-time world champion), Julio César Chávez Jr. (WBC middleweight champion), and James Toney (three-time world champion). The gym has also served non-boxing elite combat sports athletes, including UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Wild Card remains one of the most active and sought-after boxing gyms in the United States.
