> Teiken Boxing Gym

Teiken Boxing Gym (帝拳ボクシングジム) is one of Japan’s oldest and most prestigious boxing institutions, founded in 1926 in the Kagurazaka district of Shinjuku, Tokyo. It is the second oldest surviving boxing gym in Japan and operates under Teiken Promotions Inc., which manages professional fighters and produces boxing programming for major Japanese television networks as a member of the East Japan Boxing Association. Over nearly a century of operation, Teiken has produced multiple world champions: Masao Ōba, Tsuyoshi Hamada, Jorge Linares (Venezuelan-born, trained through Teiken during his Japan career), Toshiaki Nishioka, Shinsuke Yamanaka, and Takashi Miura. The gym represents a through-line of Japanese boxing at the professional world-championship level from the pre-war era to the present day, making it an essential institution in the history of Asian combat sports.
