About
Roufusport MMA Academy is a mixed martial arts and kickboxing training facility founded in 2006 by Duke Roufus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Roufus, a former professional kickboxer who competed internationally and won multiple titles in North America and Europe, started the gym in a basement before expanding into a dedicated facility that has since become recognized as one of the leading MMA training camps in the United States. The coaching staff is led by Roufus and striking specialist Scott Cushman, with co-ownership involvement from Scott Joffe and Anthony Pettis. Roufusport’s technical identity is built on a Muay Thai and kickboxing foundation combined with wrestling and submission grappling — a combination that has produced some of the most technically precise strikers in the UFC’s history. Anthony Pettis, whose Showtime Kick — leaping off the cage fence to deliver a head kick — remains one of the most iconic moments in MMA, trained at Roufusport throughout his UFC Lightweight Championship run. Other champions and top contenders affiliated with the gym include Belal Muhammad (UFC Welterweight Champion), Tyron Woodley (former UFC Welterweight Champion), Rose Namajunas (two-time UFC Strawweight Champion), and Olympic wrestling gold medalist Ben Askren.
