About

Mejiro Gym is a kickboxing facility founded in 1978 by Jan Plas in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Plas had trained under Kenji Kurosaki, who established the original Mejiro Gym in Tokyo, and founded the Amsterdam location as a dedicated home for Dutch-style kickboxing. Alongside Chakuriki Gym and Vos Gym, Mejiro is recognized as one of the “big three” Dutch kickboxing gyms that shaped the global development of the sport. The gym has produced numerous world-class fighters across multiple generations, including Rob Kaman, Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjasky, Andy Souwer, and Cédric Doumbé. Mejiro Gym continues to operate and has expanded with branches in Leeuwarden (Friesland) and Bali, Indonesia, the latter opening in 2020.
