Sheffield, United Kingdom Head Coach Dominic Ingle Owner Brendan Ingle

About

Ingle Boxing Gym — formally housed at St Thomas’ Boys & Girls Club in Wincobank, Sheffield, England — is one of the United Kingdom’s most celebrated boxing training facilities and a cornerstone of Sheffield’s identity as a boxing city. The gym was established by Irish-born trainer Brendan Ingle, who was approached by a local vicar to work with youth in the area and built an unorthodox, movement-based coaching philosophy that would prove extraordinarily productive. Under Brendan Ingle, the Wincobank gym produced five world champions: the flamboyant featherweight Naseem Hamed (WBO champion 1995–2001), cruiserweight Johnny Nelson (WBO champion 2000–2005), light welterweight Junior Witter (WBC champion 2006–2008), welterweight Kell Brook (IBF champion 2014–2017), and featherweight Kid Galahad (IBF champion 2021–2022). The gym also produced highly regarded contenders including Herol “Bomber” Graham and Clinton Woods. Following Brendan Ingle’s retirement, his sons Dominic and John Ingle continued the gym’s operations and training lineage. Dominic Ingle went on to train Kell Brook to the IBF welterweight title and remains one of British boxing’s most respected coaches.
