Atos Jiu-Jitsu is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy founded in 2008 in Brazil by Ramon Lemos and Andre Galvão, relocating its headquarters to San Diego, California in 2010. The academy quickly established itself as one of the premier competitive BJJ programs in the world, producing multiple IBJJF World Championship titles and developing a distinguished roster of athletes whose technique-first approach — particularly their dominance in the lighter weight classes and submission grappling formats — made Atos synonymous with elite competition jiu-jitsu. Rafael and Guilherme Mendes trained out of Atos during their careers as two of the most decorated no-gi grapplers in history. The Ruotolo twins (Kade and Tye), Kaynan Duarte, and Keenan Cornelius brought further championship credentials through ADCC and Submission Underground appearances. In early 2026, sexual misconduct allegations against Galvão prompted a significant departure of athletes and coaching staff, and Galvão was released from his position on February 4, 2026. The academy at 4810 Mercury St in San Diego continues to operate and offers gi, no-gi, kids, and women’s programs open to the public.
