10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu is a no-gi grappling system and school network founded in 2003 by Eddie Bravo after he earned his black belt under Jean-Jacques Machado. Operating from its original headquarters in Los Angeles, California, 10th Planet grew into a franchise of over 100 affiliated schools across the United States and internationally — including locations in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, and South Korea. Bravo designed the system specifically for submission grappling and MMA competition rather than gi-based sport jiu-jitsu, de-emphasizing traditional collar-and-sleeve guard techniques and instead developing a codified vocabulary of rubber guard, twister guard, and leg-lock attacks whose terminology (rubber guard, the crab ride, the electric chair) became widely recognized in grappling circles. 10th Planet has been a consistent presence in submission-only formats including EBI (Eddie Bravo Invitational), which Bravo founded in 2014 and ran out of the Combat Sports Act circuit. Notable practitioners of the 10th Planet system include UFC and Bellator fighters Tony Ferguson, Carlos Condit, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, and Raul Rosas Jr.
